What is the Comedy Pit?
The Comedy Pit is a Showcase of CLEAN Stand-Up comedy based in Saskatoon. We are a non-profit volunteer run comedy show that provides local comedians of all levels of experience a chance to develop their art and entertain the people of Saskatoon since 2016.
Founded by Ari Avivi, with a passion for clean, clever humor, his is a cozy, community-driven comedy room, where the stage is as much for newbies as it is for seasoned acts.
What sets The Comedy Pit apart is its heart. It’s not just about laughs—it is also about making Saskatoon better one laugh at a time, donating approximately $15000.00 back into various Saskatoon small grass root charities.
The setup’s simple but effective: picture a long, narrow room with chairs packed close, a small stage up front, and a crowd that’s usually a mix of regulars and curious drop-ins. Avivi often kicks things off as host, warming up the room with his laid-back, dad-joke-infused style before handing the mic to a lineup of local comics, and the occasional out-of-towner. The humor stays “club clean”—think witty over crude, leaning on wordplay and observation rather than shock.
Driven by volunteers It’s not glitzy—don’t expect fancy lights or a big budget—but it’s got soul, blending Saskatoon’s DIY ethos with a genuine love for comedy. If you’re in town, it’s a solid bet for a Tuesday chuckle, especially if you like your humor sharp and your venues unpretentious.
